Ethel Chenery Davis

 

Ethel Chenery Davis, Daughter of James and Catherine Chenery, was born on January 1, 1916 in Philadelphia, PA. She passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 1, 2000.

 

Ethel was the youngest of seven children.

 

She was educated in the Philadelphia Public Schools. and graduated from Overbrook High School.

 

She met and married DuShey Davis in 1935. This union was blessed with three daughters. He preceded her in death in 1959.

 

Ethel was employed as a seamstress for many years.

 

Ethel was a loving mother, who loved and adored greatly her daughters. They shared a great and profound bond, which can only be described as exceptional. Lovingly referred to as "Mom-Mom" not only by her grand and great grandchildren, but their friends as well. Ethel was a great teacher of family unity having helped raise three generations. She shared her wisdom and insight with all who knew her.

 

Loving memories of Ethel will be cherished by her loved ones, her daughters, Merle Davis, Stephanie Davis Lewis and her husband Jimmie Lewis and Mashea Davis McGhee. One brother, Norman G. Washington. Grandchildren, Adrienne Davis, Vincent Davis, and his wife Jacqueline, Stephan Lewis, Tracy Lewis Booth and her husband Kenneth. Seven great-grandchildren, A. Kia Davis, LaShea Davis, Pavin Davis, Marcus Booth, Tiffany Davis, Justine Davis and Jordan Booth. A sister-in-law Lois F. Keys, a Brother-in-law Frank A. Freeman, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

   
Ludie Bell Booth

 

Ludie Bell Booth was born March 29, 1933, in Oakvale, Mississippi to the late Mitchell and Mattie Baylis. She was the Oldest of nine children. Ludie was married to the Late Charles Booth.

 

Ludie began her Christian experience at an early age at New Zion Baptist Church. Upon moving to Philadelphia, PA, in 1967, she became a faithful member of Monumental Baptist Church. She was a member of the Hallelujah Gospel Chorus, the Floral Club and a former member of the Missionary Society.

 

She was employed at the Philadelphia Naval Yard for several years until she became permanently disabled. She occupied her time with her many talents, floral arranging, Milinery creations, dressmaking, baking and poetry writing.

 

She was always a very caring person as exemplified by her membership in the Neighborhood Town Watch, Crime Prevention Network, Police Workshop, 5000 Pine Street Block Assn., and Philadelphia Horticulture Society.

 

She was a loving and faithful mother and grandmother.

 

Left to cherish her memory are: four children; Myra Rouse, Michael, Kenneth and Kelvin, one son-in-law; James, two daughters-in-law; Tracey and Lillian, four grandchildren; James, Melissa and Michelle Rouse and Marcus Booth, one brother, six sisters, a mother-in-law, father-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.

 
   
Frances A. Boose Booth

 

Frances was born to Adam and Hattie Knight on June 15, 1913 in Seminary, Mississippi.

 

She United in holy matrimony to Charlie Booth on June 15. 1929. From this union, there were five children. Frances was a member of the St. Paul M. B Church and faithfully server throughout her life. After moving to Chicago to be with here children, she joined Paradise M.B. Church. She was a homemaker and never worked outside of her home.

 

Frances departed this life on February 18, 2000 at the University of Chicago Hospital.

 

Having led a full and rewarding life, the entire family and friends rejoice in here homegoing and invite you to join us in celebration of life.

 

Frances leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Charlie; two daughters, Bobbie (Williams) and Frances; three sons, Charlie Ray (Ludie) both preceded her in death, James (Susan) and Robert (Elizabeth); four sister, Aretta, (Rosetta, Armetta and Zula all deceased); two brothers, Jesse (Mattie) and Willie; thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
